Former Student Allegedly Stabs Three Torrance School Staff Members, Police Report

A former student is alleged to have stabbed three staff members at a Torrance school on Monday morning. The incident occurred at the Switzer Learning Center, located on Amapola Court, at approximately 8:15 a.m. Police received reports of the attack and quickly responded.

Upon arrival, the Torrance Police Department issued an alert to the public, advising them to avoid the area due to ongoing police activity. Investigators reported that the former student attempted to stab a fourth staff member before fleeing the scene.

Two victims were transported to Harbor General Hospital for treatment of injuries that are non-life-threatening. A third staff member received on-site treatment from the Torrance Fire Department’s first responders.

Authorities apprehended the suspect at the scene. During the arrest, he allegedly claimed to have placed two pipe bombs near the intersection of 208 Street and Amapola Avenue. This prompted the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department bomb squad to investigate the area as a precaution.

Later in the day, the police in Redondo Beach announced they were investigating a potential connection to the stabbing incident near Dominguez Park. This area is located at the intersection of 190th Street and Flagler Lane, extending north through the neighborhoods of Rindge Lane and Ripley Avenue. Authorities confirmed that there was no immediate threat to the public.
