13-Year-Old Cyclist Tragically Struck and Killed by Truck

A tragic incident occurred in Saint-Hyacinthe when a 13-year-old cyclist was struck and killed by a truck while crossing the street. The accident took place around 1:30 PM on Laframboise Boulevard, and emergency services responded to the scene.

According to initial reports from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), the truck driver did not see the young cyclist. The student, who was in her first year of secondary school, was riding north when the truck made a turn from Martineau Street.
Sadly, the cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver, however, was transported to a local hospital due to shock.
Investigation Underway
An accident reconstruction specialist is currently at the site to examine the circumstances and causes surrounding the collision. The area between Martineau Street and Allaire on Laframboise Boulevard has been closed for the investigation.
The SQ has advised motorists to avoid Highway 130 from Highway 20 due to roadblocks.
