In a remarkable achievement, Bryce Pickford of the Medicine Hat Tigers has been awarded the CHL’s Top Defenseman honor for the 2025-26 season. This esteemed recognition highlights Pickford’s outstanding performance, making a significant mark in Canadian Hockey League (CHL) history.

Bryce Pickford enjoyed one of the most prolific seasons for a defenseman in CHL’s modern era. Over the course of 55 games, he recorded an impressive 83 points, comprised of 45 goals and 38 assists, culminating in a plus-55 rating.

His 45 goals set a new benchmark for CHL defensemen, being the highest tally since Greg Hawgood’s 48 goals during the 1987-88 season. This achievement marks the most goals scored by a CHL blueliner in the 21st century.

Pickford was unique in his ability to rank among the top 10 goal scorers in the CHL for the 2025-26 season. His impressive stats include:
