Gasly Secures Monaco GP Podium After Successful Review

Pierre Gasly has regained his podium finish at the Monaco Grand Prix after a successful Right of Review by Alpine. Initially, he crossed the finish line in seventh due to two five-second penalties for speeding in the pit lane. However, a strategic move by his team allowed for a reassessment of the race penalties.

Successful Review and Penalty Rescission

The Alpine team, based in Enstone, submitted their Right of Review immediately following the race. This request was based on new evidence that they presented during a hearing held at the start of the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix weekend.

Initial Hearing Outcome

  • The first hearing took place on Thursday.
  • Alpine successfully argued their case, leading to a follow-up hearing.

On Friday morning, the FIA confirmed that Gasly’s penalties had been rescinded. This decision reinstated his finish in third place at the Monaco Grand Prix.

Alpine’s Response

In a statement, Alpine expressed their gratitude to the FIA for the transparency during the review. They welcomed the decision which recognized their Right of Review as valid.

Impact on Other Drivers

This ruling also means changes in standings for other competitors. Red Bull’s Isack Hadjar will drop from the podium to fourth place. Additionally, McLaren’s Oscar Piastri, and both Racing Bulls drivers, Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad, will also find themselves in repositioned rankings.

Looking Ahead

With the Monaco result confirmed, Alpine is now directing its focus on achieving strong performances at the upcoming Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix. Their goal is to strive for the best possible outcome with both of their cars.
