Pierre Gasly Reclaims Monaco Grand Prix Podium After Successful Alpine Review

Pierre Gasly has regained his third-place position at the Monaco Grand Prix following a successful review by Alpine regarding his speeding penalties. This decision came after a video conference held by Monaco race stewards with Alpine and FIA representatives.

Alpine’s Successful Challenge

Alpine contested two five-second time penalties that initially relegated Gasly from third to seventh place. The penalties were imposed for exceeding the speed limit in the pit lane during the race.

On Thursday, the stewards received new evidence from Alpine, which they deemed “significant and relevant.” This evidence led them to reassess Gasly’s situation, ultimately deciding that he did not exceed the 60 km/h speed limit in the pit lane.

Race Details and Driver Standings

The ruling was confirmed just before the Friday practice session in Barcelona, allowing Gasly to reclaim his podium finish. He now pushes Red Bull’s Isack Hadjar out of third place, while McLaren’s Oscar Piastri dropped to fifth. Racing Bulls drivers Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad placed sixth and seventh, respectively.

The Monaco Grand Prix result is as follows:

  • Kimi Antonelli, Mercedes – 1st
  • Lewis Hamilton, Ferrari – 2nd
  • Pierre Gasly, Alpine – 3rd
  • Isack Hadjar, Red Bull – 4th
  • Oscar Piastri, McLaren – 5th
  • Liam Lawson, Racing Bulls – 6th
  • Arvid Lindblad, Racing Bulls – 7th
  • Alex Albon, Williams – 8th
  • Esteban Ocon, Haas – 9th
  • Fernando Alonso, Aston Martin – 10th

Impact on Championship Standings

This podium finish marks Gasly’s sixth career podium and is the first for him and Alpine since the 2024 Sao Paulo Grand Prix. Following this result, Gasly is now placed eighth in the Drivers’ Championship, and Alpine continues to distance itself from the Racing Bulls in the constructor’s standings.

As the teams prepare for the upcoming Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix, the focus will be on maintaining momentum after this substantial victory on appeal.
