“Every time I hear of a successful immunotherapy treatment, I feel a surge of happiness,” said Elise. “However, nothing has been developed to address my specific genetic mutation. This issue affects many patients as various mutations exist that immunotherapy cannot treat.”
Awareness and Early Detection
Elise was diagnosed with bowel cancer prior to becoming eligible for routine screening. She believes that changes need to be made in screening protocols to catch the disease earlier.
Proposed Changes to Screening Age

- Elise advocates for lowering the age to 40 due to rising bowel cancer rates in younger individuals.
“Introducing the FIT test (Faecal Immunochemical Test) at 40 could lead to earlier detection and better outcomes for many,” Elise emphasized. “Catching the disease before it reaches stage four is crucial for effective treatment.”
