Inspiring Acceptance Speech

During his acceptance speech, Henry shared an uplifting message directed at his three sons. He emphasized the importance of perseverance and determination, stating, “Remember, it’s the practice that you do when no one is looking and how you fall down and how you get back up again, that’s what makes you great.”

Henry also acknowledged the contributions of Broadway legends, Audra McDonald and Brian Stokes Mitchell, who were the original performers of Sarah and Coalhouse. He referred to their “Black-don’t-crack” legacy and their influence in showcasing artistic brilliance on stage.

A Reflective Journey

Following his win, Henry reflected on his career path. He noted a pivotal moment when he was meant to join the cast of “Hamilton” on Broadway but ultimately did not. In his own words, he expressed, “What is for you cannot pass you by if you have the patience to wait it out.”
