Tropical Storm Priscilla Set to Drench Arizona with Heavy Rain

Arizona is bracing for significant weather changes as Tropical Storm Priscilla’s remnants approach the state. As of Thursday morning, Priscilla is located off the Baja Peninsula of Mexico and is expected to weaken. However, its moisture is already making its way into Arizona.
Weather Forecast for Arizona
The temperatures in the Valley are forecasted to remain mostly cloudy, with a high of 94 degrees today. Some changes in the forecast highlight that Wednesday’s high of 102 degrees was likely the last triple-digit day of the year.
Rain Chances and Flood Watch
Rain is anticipated throughout the state, with the following probability breakdown:
- Thursday: 10% chance during the day, increasing to 30% by evening.
- Friday: 40% chance during the day, escalating to 80% overnight.
- Saturday: 80% chance of rain is expected throughout the day.
While most rainfall will be light to moderate, heavier downpours may occur. The risk of flash flooding has prompted a Flood Watch for much of Arizona, effective from Friday afternoon through Saturday evening.
Thunderstorm Risks
In addition to possible flooding, there is a risk of strong thunderstorms, especially on Saturday afternoon. The chances of rain will continue into Sunday, at about 40%.
Temperature Changes Ahead
Temperatures in the Valley are set to decrease, with highs reaching 95 degrees on Friday and dropping to the mid-80s on Saturday and Sunday. These cooler temperatures are expected to persist through the following week.
Potential Second Tropical Disturbance
Another tropical system may impact southeastern Arizona early next week. While its trajectory and intensity remain uncertain, additional rainfall could occur in the Valley from this disturbance.
