Liquid Hydrogen-Powered TR LH2 Racing Prototype Debuts at Le Mans
Toyota Racing is set to showcase its innovative liquid hydrogen-powered TR LH2 Racing Prototype during the lead-up to the 94th edition of the Le Mans 24 Hours. Scheduled for demonstration drives on June 11 and June 13, this prototype is built on the same chassis as the TR010 Hybrid Hypercar, which will compete in the prestigious race on June 13-14, 2023.
Hydrogen Technology in Motorsport
The primary aim of the TR LH2 Racing Prototype is to advance hydrogen technology in motorsports. Fans will witness the sound and performance of a hydrogen combustion engine as the prototype completes demonstration laps of the 8.5-mile Circuit de la Sarthe.

Previous Developments in Hydrogen Racing
Toyota initially introduced gaseous hydrogen technology with the ORC ROOKIE GR Corolla H2 Concept in 2021. This was followed by the development of a liquid hydrogen-powered vehicle in 2023. Significant milestones in hydrogen racing include:
- Demonstration runs of the GR Yaris H2 at the Ypres Rally in 2022.
- Showcasing the GR Yaris Rally2 H2 Concept at Rally Finland and Rallye Monte-Carlo in 2025.
- Completion of a demonstration lap of the Le Mans circuit by ORC ROOKIE GR Corolla H2 Concept in 2023.
- Introduction of the GR H2 Racing Concept to highlight the future of hydrogen racing.
Hydrogen Village Exhibition
Before its demonstration laps, the TR LH2 Racing Prototype will be on display in the Hydrogen Village. This exhibition opens on June 10, showcasing various hydrogen technologies and vehicles, reaffirming Toyota’s commitment to achieving a carbon-neutral society.
