Warning Issued for Thunderstorms in Northeast Scotland

A weather alert has been issued for thunderstorms expected to impact Northeast Scotland. The Met Office has warned residents of significant rainfall, advising them to stay cautious.
Thunderstorm Warning in Northeast Scotland
The Met Office has announced a yellow “be aware” warning for rain in several regions. This includes major cities such as:
- Inverness
- Aberdeen
- Dundee
- Perth
This warning remains in effect until 22:00. Forecasters predict that some areas may experience up to 2 inches (50mm) of rain over a short period. In fact, localised spots could see nearly an inch of rain falling within just one hour.
Potential Impacts of Thunderstorms
Alongside heavy rain, the possibility of hail and lightning is also present. The Met Office cautions that these weather conditions could disrupt travel plans and introduce a risk of flooding in affected areas.
While the thunderstorms are expected to intensify initially, conditions should begin to improve and calm down later in the evening.
Residents are urged to remain alert and take necessary precautions during this weather event.
