Walmart+ Expands to Canada, Offering Free Crave and No Minimum Shipping

Walmart Canada is set to upgrade its subscription service, enhancing benefits for customers as it competes with Amazon Prime. The transition to the new Walmart+ multi-benefit membership starts Thursday, June 4, 2026. Current Delivery Pass subscribers will experience this upgrade automatically without any additional charges.
New Features of Walmart+
The revised Walmart+ membership introduces several beneficial features:
- Unlimited free same-day delivery on grocery and general merchandise orders.
- No minimum order requirement for free shipping.
- Access to Crave Standard with Ads streaming service.
Comparison with Amazon Prime
Previously, customers had to place orders over $35 or incur a $7.97 shipping fee. Now, with Walmart+, smaller orders can be made freely, creating a strong competitive edge against Amazon Prime. Walmart+ maintains a cost of $8.97 per month or $89 per year, slightly lower than Amazon Prime’s $9.99 per month or $99 per year in Canada.
Background and Evolution
The Delivery Pass service was launched by Walmart in the summer of 2023. Initially, it offered free next-day delivery but has since evolved significantly. With the removal of minimum shipping requirements, the service is now faster and more convenient for customers.
The rebranding to Walmart+ aligns with the initiative that started in the U.S. in 2020. This move enhances Walmart’s offerings in the Canadian market, particularly with the addition of streaming services for the first time.
As Walmart Canada adapts its services, customers can expect a more robust shopping experience that incorporates both grocery delivery and entertainment options in one package.
