TxDOT Announces Partial Closure of I-10 Westbound Upper Level for Repairs

Construction crews have begun vital repairs on the upper level of Interstate 10 westbound in San Antonio. The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) announced that this section will be reduced to one lane from Poplar Street to Cincinnati Avenue.
Details of the Construction
The alternating lane closures are expected to continue throughout the fall. Despite the upper level being restricted, the lower level of I-10 westbound will remain open for travel. However, motorists should anticipate delays, particularly from I-35 on both the West Side and South Side.
Project Scope and Funding
- Project Cost: $25.9 million
- Improvement Area: 5.5 miles along the corridor
- Locations:
- I-35 from South Laredo Street to I-37 and Camden Street
- I-10 from I-35 to Hildebrand Avenue
This construction effort is part of broader repairs aimed at enhancing both I-35 and I-10 in downtown San Antonio. Users are urged to plan their routes accordingly to avoid potential congestion during the repair period.
