Community Impact and Services
Located in a city with a population smaller than many major metropolitan areas, Primary Children’s Hospital stands out for its exceptional performance. It serves as the only children’s hospital within a vast 400,000-square-mile area, providing care to patients from all 50 states.
Dustin Lipson, president of Primary Children’s Hospital, emphasized the importance of specialized pediatric care. “Children are not small adults,” he stated. This specialization allows for tailored treatments that consider the unique needs of young patients.
To further support its community, the hospital opened a 24/7 behavioral health emergency department in Taylorsville in August. This facility ensures immediate access to mental health support for children and teens in crisis.
Patient Success Stories
The care provided at Primary Children’s Hospital has significantly impacted individual lives. For instance, Rachel Glade, a young patient who has undergone multiple treatments, spoke at the opening of the behavioral health center. She highlighted the importance of mental health support for children, stating, “It is incredibly important for kids to receive mental health support when they are young so that they can enter adulthood with life skills.”
Future Commitment
Looking forward, Primary Children’s Hospital is dedicated to expanding access to healthcare. Lipson remarked on the recent rankings, stating, “These results really are a milestone achievement for our community…and we’re just over the moon to see the recognition.” The hospital continues to demonstrate its commitment to providing exemplary pediatric care, solidifying its role as a vital health resource in the region.
