Loose Women Star Faces Starbucks Rejection After Losing Everything

Andrea McLean, best known for her role on “Loose Women,” recently shared her struggles following her departure from the show. The 56-year-old presenter faced significant challenges, including financial hardship, health issues, and a sense of lost identity.

From Presenter to Jobseeker

In 2020, McLean decided to leave the ITV daytime program to concentrate on her lifestyle brand. Unfortunately, the pandemic severely impacted her plans. She lost her home and a substantial amount of her life savings, which amounted to hundreds of thousands of pounds.

Health Crises

During this time, McLean faced multiple health crises. She was diagnosed with severe pneumonia, acute kidney injury, and sepsis after a collapse at home. These issues left her unable to work and contributed to her overall struggles.

The Humiliation of Job Seeking

In a revealing podcast interview, McLean expressed the shame she felt during her difficult times. She recounted the experience of applying for a job at Starbucks, a move she found to be humiliating. “I needed a job and money to buy food for the kids,” she stated, highlighting the urgency of her situation.

Despite her background in television, McLean’s agent warned her that pursuing work in other areas could harm her career prospects. This left her feeling trapped and embarrassed about her choice to start a business that ultimately did not succeed.

Family and Relationships

Married to Nick Feeney since 2017, McLean has a 24-year-old son, a nine-year-old daughter, and two stepdaughters. She noted that maintaining her relationship through challenging times has been a significant accomplishment.

Health Recovery and Future Plans

Currently, McLean describes her state as “still in the trenches,” yet acknowledges she is improving both mentally and emotionally. In early 2022, she spent four days in the hospital recovering from serious health concerns but has since reported that she is doing better.

In her upcoming book titled “Shameless: Finding Freedom and Resilience Through Failure,” McLean plans to share her experiences related to her health and business challenges. Through her story, she aims to inspire others facing similar hardships.
