UP Express and GO Train Services Resume After Brief Disruption

UP Express service linking Toronto International Airport to Union Station is operational again following a brief disruption caused by an equipment issue. The interruption occurred on Monday morning, resulting in canceled trains and significant delays.
Details of the Disruption
The UP Express trains halted their service due to a malfunction that took place west of Union Station. Consequently, Metrolinx officials announced that trains could not operate in or out of the station.
Alternative Transportation Options
During the disruption, GO Express buses were deployed to transport passengers between Union Station and the airport. This provided a necessary alternative for travelers affected by the cancellation of UP Express services.
Effects on Other GO Lines
The disruption also impacted other GO lines. Specifically, the Kitchener and Barrie GO lines experienced significant delays, with several train services canceled.
Official Statement
In an official statement to CTV News, Metrolinx attributed the delays to an equipment issue that caused a train to operate under its own power, obstructing one of the tracks. The agency expressed gratitude for the patience of its customers during the disruption.
Appreciation for Support
Metrolinx also thanked the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) for providing alternate travel options, enhancing support during the service interruption.
Travelers can now resume using the UP Express for convenient transportation between the airport and downtown Toronto.
