Ferrari Luce Unveils Electric Car Design with LoveFrom Collaboration

Ferrari has announced a significant evolution in its design approach with the unveiling of its first fully electric car, developed in collaboration with LoveFrom. This creative collective was founded by renowned designer Jony Ive, formerly of Apple, and Marc Newson. The project also involved the Ferrari Styling Center, led by Flavio Manzoni, emphasizing a fresh perspective on the brand.
Innovative Design and Features
President John Elkann highlighted that this collaboration aims to challenge existing conventions. The goal is to view Ferrari from a new vantage point, leading to an innovative vehicle design while retaining the brand’s core identity.
The electric car features a new architecture that distinguishes it from traditional models. Key aspects of the vehicle include:
- Four doors and five seats for enhanced passenger capacity.
- An absence of a central tunnel and a spacious trunk of nearly 600 liters, making it family-friendly.
- A distinctive glass house design resembling a shell, complemented by an aluminum body.
- Aerodynamic appendages at both front and rear for a streamlined silhouette.
Exterior and Interior Highlights
The vehicle’s design maintains classic Ferrari elements, such as round rear lights which pay homage to the brand’s heritage. Additionally, it features the largest wheel sizes ever used on a Ferrari road car, with 23-inch wheels at the front and 24-inch wheels at the rear.
Inside, the innovativeness continues, with interiors crafted using premium materials such as leather, glass, and anodized aluminum. The dashboard showcases a pivoting central display screen that can face the driver or passenger. Key interior highlights include:
- A Binnacle mounted on the steering column.
- Displays developed in partnership with Samsung Display.
- Physical buttons for enhanced control, including driving dynamics and climate settings.
The design philosophy aims to balance advanced digital interfaces with traditional mechanical controls, ensuring an engaging driving experience without overwhelming the cabin with large screens.
