Lakeside Enforces Dispersal Order to Maintain Public Order

In an effort to maintain public order at the Lakeside shopping centre in Thurrock, authorities have enacted a dispersal order. This measure aims to prevent potential anti-social behavior during a busy holiday weekend.
Details of the Dispersal Order
The dispersal order came into effect at 12 noon on Friday, May 22, and will remain in place until 12 noon on Sunday, May 24. During this period, police officers are empowered to direct individuals exhibiting anti-social behavior, or those likely to do so, to leave the designated area.
Police Statement
Local policing Inspector Daniel Selby emphasized the significance of the dispersal order. He stated, “This order allows us to address disruptive behavior quickly. We will not let a minority spoil the shopping experience for others.”
Planning for Busy Weekend
Inspector Selby noted that Lakeside typically attracts large crowds during Bank Holiday weekends, especially with pleasant weather forecasted. He assured visitors that measures were in place to ensure safety and enjoyment.
“As the start of half term approaches, we anticipate an influx of young visitors. While most attendees intend to enjoy the amenities, there is the potential for anti-social behavior,” he added.
Consequences of Non-Compliance
- Individuals found in violation of the dispersal order may face arrest.
- Police will actively monitor the area to ensure adherence to the order.
- The main goal is to create a safe environment for all patrons.
“We will take action against anyone intending to engage in criminal activity or disorderly conduct,” Inspector Selby affirmed. This proactive approach is designed to safeguard the community’s experience during the holiday festivities.
