Performance at Cape Town Marathon
The men’s race was won by Huseydin Mohamed Esa from Ethiopia, who finished in an impressive time of 2:04:55. Dera Dida Yami, also from Ethiopia, won the women’s title with a time of 2:23:18. This marathon is under consideration to join the elite World Marathon Major series by 2027, which would mark a notable achievement for the event.

The Cape Town Marathon faced difficulties last year when high winds led to its cancellation just 90 minutes before the scheduled start. Originally set for October, the marathon was moved to its current date of May 24.
