This scrutiny encompasses three significant games held in May, raising questions about spectator behavior and safety at football events.
Matches Under Investigation
The SPFL’s inquiry focuses on the following matches:
- Inverness Caledonian Thistle vs. Hamilton Academical on May 2
- Hamilton’s play-off second leg against Clyde on May 15
- Stenhousemuir vs. Alloa Athletic on May 16
These matches mark pivotal moments in the season, with Inverness securing the League 1 title and promotion to the Championship.
Concerns Regarding Fan Behavior
The league has noticed troubling trends in fan conduct during recent matches. Incidents of objects being thrown, unauthorized pyrotechnic displays, and pitch invasions have increasingly plagued the SPFL.

According to SPFL reports, the 2025-26 season saw 11 disciplinary actions against eight clubs for similar infractions. Notably, these figures do not reflect the final matchdays of the season.
