UK Stadium Leads Race to Host Joshua vs Fury Mega-Fight, Says Hearn

A UK stadium is emerging as the leading candidate to host the highly anticipated mega-fight between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury. Promoter Eddie Hearn has confirmed that both fighters have signed a deal to combat this year, marking a significant milestone in their longstanding rivalry.
Potential Venues for the Joshua vs Fury Mega-Fight
While UK venues are being prioritized, the fight’s location remains undecided. Hearn indicated that there is potential for the bout to be staged abroad. He mentioned, “I think the UK is probably the frontrunner, but both fighters are being offered substantial financial incentives, particularly with backing from Saudi financier Turki Alalshikh.”
Key venues under consideration include:
- Wembley Stadium: A traditional and iconic location for boxing.
- Principality Stadium in Cardiff: Notable for its retractable roof.
- Tottenham Hotspur Stadium: Previously hosted major fights in late 2022.
Fight Date and Preparations
The fight is tentatively scheduled for November this year. Hearn noted that while the date limits options, the funding from Alalshikh’s team allows for flexibility in venue selection. “We’ll be in the discussion, but wherever that fight lands, we’ll be ready,” Hearn stated.
Both fighters are gearing up for preliminary bouts ahead of their showdown. Joshua is set to face Kristian Prenga in Riyadh on July 25. Meanwhile, Fury is expected to engage in a tune-up fight at the beginning of August.
The Stakes of the Upcoming Fights
Hearn emphasized the importance of these warm-up matches. He warned that while fans presume Joshua will easily defeat Prenga, the opponent holds an impressive record of 20 knockouts in 21 wins. “This is a serious fight for AJ, and he needs to be fully focused,” Hearn remarked.
With both fighters navigating their respective preparation fights, anticipation builds for what could be one of the largest boxing events in recent history.
