Two Stabbed in West Edmonton Mall Phone Robbery, Three Arrested

Two men were stabbed during a violent robbery at a transit center linked to West Edmonton Mall. The incident occurred on October 1, around 5:30 a.m., at the Edmonton Transit Service (ETS) station near 90 Avenue and 175 Street.

Details of the Incident

According to police reports, three suspects approached the victims, aged 24 and 45, while they were waiting at the bus station. The suspects demanded their cellphones, and when the victims refused, the individuals attacked them.

One of the assailants stabbed both men during the confrontation and subsequently stole their cellphones. After the robbery, the suspects fled the scene on bicycles.

Injuries and Medical Response

The victims were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Fortunately, both men have since been released from medical care.

Quick Arrests Following the Attack

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) launched an immediate investigation. They collaborated with the Edmonton Transit Service and the Stony Plain Road BEATS team to identify the suspects rapidly.

Within 24 hours, on October 2, all three individuals were arrested along the Stony Plain Road corridor, northeast of the transit center. Police stated that the suspects are well-known to them.

  • Jessalyn Edwards, 28

All three have been charged with robbery and aggravated assault. Detective Aaron Sauve noted the impressive collaboration between various teams in making transit safer for the community.
