Firefighters Battle Massive Blaze at Former Shrewsbury Pub

On Monday evening, a significant fire erupted at the abandoned Oxon Priory pub located in Shelton, Shrewsbury. The fire was first reported at 8:52 PM and quickly escalated, originating from the roof space and spreading throughout the building.
Firefighting Response
A robust response involved six fire appliances mobilized to handle the blaze. The units included an Aerial Ladder Platform, an Incident Command Unit, and a Welfare Unit. Fire crews from several stations, such as Shrewsbury, Baschurch, Church Stretton, Minsterley, and Telford Central, participated in the operation.

Following the incident, an investigation into the fire’s cause is anticipated. The pub had been permanently closed since August, with the operating brewery, Greene King, describing the decision to close as difficult and expressing gratitude to its patrons.
