Ralph, an 11-year-old rescue dog, has faced significant challenges in his quest for a permanent home. After spending five years in kennels at Oakwood Dog Rescue, he was returned just 12 days after being rehomed.
Ralph’s Journey to Oakwood Dog Rescue
Ralph arrived at Oakwood Dog Rescue in 2021 at the age of six. Before coming to the UK, he lived in shelters in Romania, where stray dogs often face brutal conditions. His time there left him fearful and anxious.
Return to the Kennels
Shortly after his adoption, Ralph’s anxious behavior led to his return to the rescue. Staff members were heartbroken by this development, as they had worked hard to help him build trust and confidence over the years.
Progress and Milestones
Despite his setbacks, Ralph has made notable progress. He has been described as a “lovable, cheeky gentleman” who has captured the hearts of the volunteers. Recently, he achieved a major milestone by taking his first walk on a lead, something he had previously found frightening.
To celebrate his 11th birthday, the staff organized a special outing for Ralph. He was taken to a secure dog field where he could enjoy running freely and exploring new scents. During this outing, he even had the chance to share tea and biscuits with his caretakers.

Ralph is best suited for a home without other pets, as he prefers the undivided attention of his humans. Volunteers are hopeful that someone will come forward to provide him with the love, patience, and time he needs to thrive.
