He received notification of the mechanical problem at around 4 p.m., shortly after the team finished a successful 10-4 victory against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The issue involved a joystick critical for takeoff and landing.
Decision to Bus
- The team had two options:
- Wait for a new plane from Vancouver, which would arrive around 10 p.m.
- Travel by bus to Orange County.
- After a team vote, the players opted for the bus ride.
Meanwhile, pitcher Dylan Cease chose to travel commercially and arrived separately in Orange County. The remaining players and staff loaded their luggage and supplies onto three buses — two for the players and one for approximately 40 staff members, including coaches.
