Authorities have halted the search for a passenger who reportedly jumped overboard from a cruise ship en route to Sydney. The incident occurred on the Carnival Splendor, a cruise ship owned by Carnival Cruise Lines.

Details of the Incident

Last night, the Carnival Splendor was sailing approximately 30 kilometers northeast of Moreton Island, Queensland, when the passenger was reported missing. According to a spokesperson for Carnival Cruise Lines, the ship’s crew was alerted by the family of the passenger.

Upon review of CCTV footage, it was confirmed that the individual deliberately climbed over the ship’s safety railing and jumped into the water.
