Senators Recall Defenseman Yakemchuk, Forward Kaliyev from AHL Belleville

On Sunday afternoon, the Ottawa Senators made significant roster changes by recalling several players from AHL Belleville. This decision comes as the Senators prepare for their playoff series.

Players Recalled from AHL Belleville

The Senators recalled key players, including:

  • Carter Yakemchuk – Rookie defenceman
  • Arthur Kaliyev – AHL goal-scoring leader
  • Graeme Clark – Forward
  • Xavier Bourgeault – Forward
  • Oskar Pettersson – Forward
  • Tyler Boucher – Forward

Belleville finished its season without advancing to the playoffs, ending with a record of 28 wins, 35 losses, and 9 overtime losses. They placed last in the North Division.

Carter Yakemchuk’s Performance

Carter Yakemchuk, the seventh overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft, had an impressive rookie season. He recorded:

  • 40 points
  • 54 games played

Yakemchuk also made his NHL debut this season, during which he scored one goal and provided one assist in four games.

Arthur Kaliyev’s Standout Season

Arthur Kaliyev shone in the AHL, leading the league with 40 goals and finishing third in total points with 77. Over his NHL career, Kaliyev has played in 204 games, achieving:

His time in the NHL has been divided among the Los Angeles Kings, New York Rangers, and the Senators.

The Senators began their first-round playoff series against the Carolina Hurricanes with a 2-0 loss in Game 1. The second game is set to take place on Monday night in Carolina.
