Court Hears Teen Intentionally Ran Over Woman Outside Cardiff Club

The trial of Kian Bateman, a 19-year-old driver, has commenced in Cardiff Crown Court. He faces accusations of intentionally running over Shelley Davies, a 38-year-old woman, outside the Home Guard club in Ely, Cardiff. Ms. Davies succumbed to her injuries weeks after the incident, which occurred on September 27, 2022.

According to prosecutor Michael Jones KC, Bateman was seated in a running car— a Seat Ibiza Sport— when an altercation broke out between his brother, Kai, and Ms. Davies along with her partner, David Bratcher. As the fight escalated just after midnight, Ms. Davies was knocked to the ground, lying in the road.
