1995/96 Retro Kit Launches for 30th Anniversary of Promotion

Derby County Football Club is excited to unveil a limited edition of its iconic 1995/96 home shirt. This release marks the 30th anniversary of the team’s promotion to the Premier League. Under the management of Jim Smith, Derby County celebrated this milestone after a crucial victory over Crystal Palace.
Launch Details of the 1995/96 Retro Kit
The kit will officially go on sale at 8 am on Tuesday, April 28. This date coincides with the anniversary of the team’s significant match that year. Fans can purchase the shirt in person at the Derby County Megastore or online.
Specifications of the Retro Kit
Manufactured by PUMA, the retro shirt closely resembles the original design. Key features include:
- V-neck black collar tipped with yellow and white.
- Embroidered ‘Derby County’ logo.
- Centrally flocked diamond Ram logo with ‘Derby County F.C.’ and the year 1884.
- PUMA badge on the fabric.
- Vertical sublimated striping on the body.
- Striped black and white sleeves with yellow piping.
This year’s kit design takes inspiration from the 1995/96 shirt, which was PUMA’s first for the club. The retro shirt is cut in a relaxed fit, reflecting the looser silhouette popular in 90’s football gear.
Pricing and Availability
The 1995/96 replica shirt will retail for £65. Due to high demand, there will be a limit on the number of purchases per transaction. On the launch day, the Derby County Megastore will extend its hours to 7 pm to accommodate fans.
Commemorative Events and Special Features
As part of the anniversary celebrations, former players from the 1995/96 squad will attend Derby County’s match against Oxford United on Saturday, April 18, with a kick-off at 12.30 pm. They will receive a replica kit featuring their legacy numbers.
The match graphics will showcase current first-team players wearing the retro shirt. Additionally, a special edition of “The Ram” magazine will be available for £5. This issue includes a feature-length interview with Steve McClaren, the assistant coach from that memorable season.
