CBSA Seizes Fake Passports, Arrests Caledon Resident at Pearson Airport

A resident of Caledon, Ontario, has been arrested in connection with a significant passport fraud incident at Toronto Pearson International Airport. The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) conducted an investigation that led to the discovery of multiple fraudulent passports concealed within sandals.
Details of the Seizure
The seizure occurred during the inspection of a 1,600-kilogram shipment that had arrived from Nigeria. Upon further examination, officers uncovered:
- Five fraudulent passports from the Republic of Gambia
- Two fraudulent passports from South Africa
All these documents displayed the same photograph of a male, but featured different names and conflicting biographical information.
Charges and Arrest
Nnenna Oketa, 44, has been charged with knowingly possessing a forged passport. This arrest highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies in addressing passport fraud.

Insp. John McMath from the RCMP’s Toronto airport detachment emphasized the importance of collaboration among agencies. “This investigation underscores the critical role of inter-agency cooperation in safeguarding Canada’s borders,” he stated. “Working closely with our partners at the Canada Border Services Agency allows us to protect Canadians from the risks posed by fraudulent identification documents.”
The CBSA continues to stress the importance of vigilance in identifying and combating attempts to undermine Canada’s security through counterfeit documents.
