Kick Reaches 100M Users: Founder Discusses Overcoming Challenges

Kick, a prominent streaming platform linked with the online casino Stake, has successfully surpassed 100 million users as of April 10, 2026. This achievement came just three years after the platform’s launch.

Co-Founder Acknowledges Challenges

In a message to the Kick community, co-founder Bijan Tehrani expressed pride in reaching this milestone. However, he was candid about the platform’s shortcomings, labeling the achievement as somewhat superficial. Tehrani stated that despite the large user base, Kick is still improving its infrastructure.

The platform has remained in a beta phase. This decision allows them to address issues such as weak purchasing capabilities and unreliable streaming experiences. Tehrani emphasized that the team’s focus over the past three years has been on resolving these flaws.

Financial Backing and Investment

Tehrani revealed that significant investments have supported Kick’s growth. He and fellow co-founder Eddie Craven have allocated nearly $1 billion into the platform. This financial support is crucial as they enhance the platform’s features.

Improvements on the Horizon

Tehrani highlighted the mobile app as a critical area for improvement. A complete overhaul of the app is underway, with Tehrani personally overseeing the development process. This initiative aims to significantly elevate the user experience.

Shifts in Partnership Strategy

The approach to creator partnerships has also evolved. Initially, Kick secured attention by offering large contracts to top streamers, such as the reported $100 million two-year deal with xQc in June 2023. However, Tehrani commented that these substantial agreements proved to be financially risky.

Currently, Kick is focusing on bolstering the economics of its Kick Partner Program. The emphasis is now on nurturing creators who genuinely engage with their audiences. Despite rumors about possible reductions in earnings for partners, an official response from Craven addressed these concerns.

Future Developments

Kick’s next major step includes introducing a new recommendation feature, which is currently being tested with around 10% of users. This feature aims to promote authentic streamers based on real engagement metrics rather than artificially inflated data.

Tehrani believes that this strategy will position Kick as a leading long-form streaming platform, prioritizing genuine community interactions and discovery. This focused approach seeks to foster an engaging environment for both creators and viewers alike.
