Second Measles Case Confirmed in Quebec Within a Week

Public health officials in the Capitale-Nationale region have reported a second confirmed case of measles in Quebec within the span of a week. This case prompted renewed concern as it is the first instance of measles detected in the area since 2019.

The individual infected was in various public locations in Quebec City, risking exposure to others. Health authorities have identified specific dates and places where the infected person was present.

- Costco Sainte-Foy: April 6, from 5 PM to 8 PM
- Winners at Galeries de la Capitale: April 6, from 6 PM to 9 PM
- Maxi: April 8, from 9:15 PM to 11:30 PM
- Tunnel connecting the Integrated Cancer Care Center (CIC) to Hôpital de l’Enfant-Jésus:
- April 7, from 7:35 AM to 9:40 AM and 4 PM to 6:05 PM
- April 8, from 7:35 AM to 9:40 AM and 4 PM to 6:05 PM
- April 9, from 7:35 AM to 9:40 AM and 4 PM to 6:05 PM
- Radiology Department (Level 1, Wing B) of Hôpital de l’Enfant-Jésus: April 7, 8, and 9, from 7:45 AM to 6 PM
- Clinical Room A (2nd floor, Wing I) at Hôpital de l’Enfant-Jésus: April 7, from 1 PM to 6 PM
- CHUL Emergency Room: April 10, from 4:59 PM to 7:07 PM
Public Health Advisory
Individuals who were present at the identified locations are considered potential contacts of the measles case. Public health officials recommend that anyone who has not been vaccinated should isolate themselves starting from the 5th day following their first exposure to measles, continuing until the 14th day.
Vaccinated individuals are advised to monitor for any symptoms related to measles.
Epidemiological Investigation
