A couple from Birmingham has been implicated in a large-scale counterfeit clothing operation, generating significant financial harm to well-known brands. The investigation revealed that Shahzad Ahmed, 41, and his wife Afshan operated a fake clothing factory from their home in Acocks Green.

The couple ran their illegal business through a company named Smass Ltd, located at Bizspace Business Park in Tyseley. Trading Standards officers discovered a substantial inventory of counterfeit t-shirts bearing logos from various brands, including Gucci, Marvel, and Adidas.

Birmingham Trading Standards authorities executed a raid at their residence and seized numerous counterfeit goods. Initially warned to cease operations, the couple continued their activities for over five years, allegedly causing £2 million in financial damage to legitimate brands.
