Voting Insights for 2025-26 Sharks Awards

The San Jose Sharks have officially announced their 2025-26 awards. This article provides insights into the voting and key player performances.

2025-26 Sharks Awards Voting Insights

Player of the Year

The standout for Player of the Year is Macklin Celebrini. My top three votes were:

  • Macklin Celebrini
  • Alex Wennberg
  • Dmitry Orlov

Celebrini’s remarkable performance made him the clear favorite. However, Alex Wennberg also had a notable offensive season. He stands out as one of the league’s top defensive centers, averaging more than 20 minutes of ice time each game.

Dmitry Orlov, despite some late-season errors, remained the Sharks’ best all-around defenseman. He improved the team’s defensive efforts compared to previous seasons.

Media Good Guy

Mario Ferraro received the Media Good Guy award. My voting for this category included:

  • Alex Nedeljkovic
  • Mario Ferraro
  • Alex Wennberg

Ferraro, a three-time winner, has consistently taken on media responsibilities, showcasing leadership. Alex Nedeljkovic also demonstrated accountability when addressing post-game questions, particularly as a goalie facing tough moments.

Additionally, Celebrini deserves mention for his media presence during the season, especially following his outstanding performance starting in November.

Rookie of the Year

Yaroslav Askarov has earned the title of Rookie of the Year. My voting prioritized:

  • Yaroslav Askarov
  • Sam Dickinson

Eligible rookies included Askarov, Ethan Cardwell, Igor Chernyshov, Dickinson, Patrick Giles, Michael Misa, and Pavol Regenda. Although Chernyshov and Regenda had brief standout moments, Askarov’s consistent play throughout the season secured him the award.

Prospect of the Year

Eric Pohlkamp was named Prospect of the Year, an honor decided by team hockey operations. Pohlkamp had an exceptional season, becoming a back-to-back NCAA champion and a Hobey Baker Hat Trick finalist, which distinguishes his achievements among Sharks prospects.

These voting insights reflect the performances and contributions of the San Jose Sharks players during the 2025-26 season, highlighting their hard work and dedication.
