Birmingham Dad Calls for Recall of Faulty Temu Range Rovers

Concerns are mounting over the safety of the Jaecoo 7 PHEX Luxury, referred to as the “Temu Range Rover,” following alarming incidents reported by owners. Alan Lee, a 37-year-old resident of Birmingham, is calling for these vehicles to be recalled after experiencing significant issues with his new SUV.

Incident Details

Alan purchased his Jaecoo 7 PHEX Luxury—costing approximately £35,000—on March 18, 2026. Just weeks after buying the car, he faced disturbing malfunctions. On April 2, while driving his four-year-old son to nursery on a busy 60mph A road, his vehicle suddenly stalled, causing all warning lights to illuminate.

Previous Recall and Safety Concerns

Earlier this year, the UK Government issued a recall for around 7,500 Jaecoo 7 models due to a faulty Electronic Control Unit (ECU) wiring harness clip. This technical flaw was linked to potential stalling issues, heightening concerns among owners and potential buyers.

Driver Experience

Before switching to the Jaecoo, Alan drove a Volkswagen Tiguan. He decided to try the Jaecoo 7 after reading positive reviews and recognizing it as a top-selling car in the UK for November 2025. However, after his initial excitement faded, he began noticing problems, such as flickering headlights during turns.

Stalling Incident

  • Date of Incident: April 2, 2026
  • Location: A busy 60mph A road in Birmingham
  • Key Events:
    • Car “died completely” while entering a roundabout.
    • All warning lights flashed simultaneously.
    • Contacted emergency services for assistance.

Alan described the experience: “The car just died, completely shut down. I got 20 different warning lights flashing. It wouldn’t go into drive or reverse.” This incident prompted him to seek immediate help from the authorities.

Response from Jaecoo

Following the incident, Alan reached out to Jaecoo for assistance. Although he was promised a courtesy car, he has yet to receive it. Frustrated by the lack of responsiveness and service, he expressed his disappointment in the company, stating, “I will not be buying from them again.”

Call for Recall

Alan is advocating for the recall of the Jaecoo 7 PHEX Luxury, asserting that the vehicle is “not fit for the road.” His plea highlights the need for stricter regulations and safety checks for modern vehicles.

As the situation unfolds, potential buyers of the Temu Range Rover equivalent may want to proceed with caution, given the ongoing concerns regarding safety and reliability.
