LIDO Festival Moves Maribou State to August, Cancels CMAT and Bombay Bicycle Club

The LIDO Festival at Victoria Park has officially changed its schedule, moving the event to August as part of a strategic decision to preserve the park’s condition. This change comes after careful consideration of the grounds following severe weather conditions over the winter.
Details of the Schedule Change
The festival initially planned for June will now take place on August 31st. This date adjustment includes:
- Maribou State performing on August 31.
- Cancellation of the original dates including:
- June 12 event featuring CMAT, Father John Misty, and Sharon Van Etten.
- June 14 event headlined by Bombay Bicycle Club and Metronomy.
All events initially scheduled for June have been cancelled, with full refunds automatically processed for ticket holders.
Reasons Behind the Change
Organizers have emphasized that no blame is placed on the artists or the London Borough of Tower Hamlets (LBTH). All involved parties have supported the decision. The change stems from the need to allow the park’s grounds to recover adequately after one of the wettest winters recorded.
Park Improvements and Future Events
AEG has conducted significant work on Victoria Park, including a reseeding program after previous issues with dust. According to Jim King, CEO of AEG Presents UK & European Festivals, “We’re committed to delivering the best and most sustainable event experiences for fans and the community.”
The park remains in great condition for everyday use, but the adjustment to the festival timing aims to protect the improvements made and ensure better future events.
Community and Financial Commitment
LBTH has confirmed that all financial commitments related to AEG’s community program and capital investment for Victoria Park remain intact despite the schedule adjustment. This collaboration supports the well-being of park users and local residents.
