Epic Fury Bombers Complete 18 US-Iran Missions, Each Over 30 Hours Long

Recent military operations have highlighted the extensive capabilities of the United States Air Force, particularly in long-range bombing missions targeting Iran. During Operation Epic Fury, American bombers undertook 62 missions before a ceasefire was reached between the US and Iran.
Operation Epic Fury Overview
Air Force General Dan Caine, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, informed the media about the operations on Wednesday. Out of the total missions, 18 involved round-trip flights from the US, each lasting over 30 hours.
Mission Details and Aircraft Used
- The missions primarily utilized B-2 Spirit stealth bombers, likely operating from Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri.
- KC-135 tankers provided in-flight refueling for these long-duration missions.
- B-1 Lancer and B-52 Stratofortress bombers launched from bases in the UK supported the operation.
General Caine emphasized the logistical prowess of the US military, stating, “No other military in the world can do that.”
Impact of the Strikes
According to US Central Command, more than 13,000 targets within Iran were struck since the conflict’s onset in late February. These included:
- Air defense systems
- Ballistic missile and one-way drone storage facilities
- Naval ships
- Weapons production factories
US officials reported the majority of these facilities were destroyed, significantly impeding Iran’s military capabilities.
Ceasefire Agreement
The US, Iran, and Israel reached a two-week ceasefire on a deadline set by President Donald Trump. This agreement aimed to encourage Iran to negotiate terms to reopen the vital Strait of Hormuz.
Regional Tensions Continue
Despite the ceasefire, tensions remain high. The Israeli military conducted strikes within Iran just before the agreement was announced. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu clarified that the ceasefire does not address the ongoing conflict with Hezbollah in Lebanon.
Additionally, several Gulf states have reported Iranian strikes, with the United Arab Emirates noting the launch of 17 ballistic missiles and 35 drones since the ceasefire came into effect.
