Telangana Launches Heli-Tourism on Srisailam Route

Telangana is set to enhance its tourism appeal with the launch of heli-tourism services on the Hyderabad-Somasila-Srisailam circuit, starting April 9. This initiative was announced by Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao during a media briefing in Kollapur.

New Helicopter Tourism Initiative

The new helicopter services will provide tourists with stunning aerial views of the Krishna River and the Nallamala forests. This project, developed in collaboration with private aviation companies, aims to improve high-end tourism infrastructure across the state.

Route and Experience

The helicopter journey will begin in Hyderabad and travel to Somasila, allowing passengers to enjoy the scenic backwaters. Tourists will then continue their flight to Srisailam, where they can experience:

  • Boating at Somasila
  • Darshan at the Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy temple

The round trip will enable visitors to return the same day, maximizing their experience while exploring these key destinations.

Economic and Employment Impact

This initiative is designed to attract more tourists, stimulate local economic activity, and create job opportunities for rural youth. The government envisions expanding heli-tourism services to additional locations, including Nagarjunasagar, Ramappa, and Nizamsagar.

Positioning Telangana as a Tourism Hub

Through these efforts, Telangana aims to establish itself as a premier global tourism destination. By enhancing connectivity to pilgrimage spots and eco-tourism areas, the state seeks to boost its profile in the competitive tourism market.
