UK’s Best-Selling EV Debuts in New Family-Focused Version

Tesla has unveiled a family-oriented version of the UK’s best-selling electric vehicle, the Model Y. This new seven-seat configuration aims to broaden its appeal for families needing more space and flexibility.
New Family-Focused Seven-Seater Model Y
The seven-seat option is available exclusively on the Model Y Premium Long Range All-Wheel Drive variant. It carries a price tag of £54,490, reflecting a £2,500 increase compared to the five-seater model. Tesla claims a maximum range of up to 372 miles for this vehicle.
Configuration and Cargo Capacity
The new model incorporates two forward-facing seats that can be folded flat when not in use. This design allows the Model Y to accommodate seven passengers while maintaining impressive cargo space.
- Cargo Capacity: Up to 2,094 litres
- Space Behind Third Row: 381 litres
- Additional Storage Under Bonnet: 116 litres
- Boot Space with Seats Folded: 894 litres
Access to the third row is made easy with a sliding and folding second row, which can be adjusted with seatback buttons. Even with all seats in use, there’s space for two carry-on bags and larger luggage in the front area.
Interior and Technology Features
The seven-seat Model Y retains the premium features introduced in earlier versions, including:
- 16-inch Central Touchscreen: Running Tesla’s latest software
- Heated and Ventilated Front Seats: Adjust automatically with climate control
- Eight-inch Screen for Second Row Passengers: Includes entertainment and climate controls
- USB-C Ports in Third Row: For charging devices
Other notable features include acoustic glass for noise reduction, revised suspension, and a panoramic glass roof. Additionally, a 15-speaker audio system enhances the driving experience.
Availability and Autopilot Features
Orders for the Model Y Premium Long Range All-Wheel Drive seven-seater are currently open. All models come standard with Tesla’s Autopilot technology and are prepared for the future activation of Full Self-Driving capabilities, pending government approval.
With this new configuration, Tesla continues to solidify its position in the electric vehicle market, catering to families seeking comfort and versatility.
