Randolph Cinema Purchased for $9 Million

The Showcase Cinema de Lux in Randolph has officially changed hands, following its recent acquisition for $9 million. This transaction marks a significant event in the local real estate and entertainment landscape.

Property Details and Ownership Transition

According to state land records, National Amusements sold the cinema on March 18, 2023, to Core Investments, a Boston-based real estate developer. The deal was facilitated by Atlantic Capital Partners, reflecting a shift in the management of this sizable property.

Located at 73 Mazzeo Drive, the theater spans 112,265 square feet and occupies a 13.48-acre site. Originally opened in 1997, it features 16 screens and can accommodate over 2,000 patrons.

Theater’s Future Remains Uncertain

David Pogorelc, CEO of Core Investments, mentioned that the company is currently negotiating with a potential tenant. However, specific plans for the property have not yet been disclosed.

Justin Smith, head of capital markets at Atlantic, commented on the site’s advantageous location. He emphasized the infrastructure and access to communities south of Boston, which could offer various possibilities for future use, beyond merely leasing it to another cinema operator.

Significance of the Closure

The Showcase Cinema de Lux Randolph’s last day of operations was March 1, 2023. This closure reduces National Amusements’ operational locations in the state to just seven cinemas, with additional sites in New York, Rhode Island, and Ohio.

This sale indicates a potential shift in how the space may be utilized, as stakeholders explore the cinema’s future in a vibrant commercial area along Route 139.
