Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord Renewed for Season 2

LucasFilm’s President and Creative Director, Dave Filoni, has announced that “Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord” will return for a second season. This confirmation comes ahead of the premiere of the highly anticipated first season, set to debut on Disney+ on April 6.
Details of Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord
The series unfolds after the events of “The Clone Wars.” It follows Darth Maul as he endeavors to rebuild his criminal empire on the planet Janix. This world remains partially under the control of Emperor Palpatine. Maul’s journey is significantly impacted by his encounters with Devon Izara, a disillusioned young Padawan who might play a crucial role in his plans for revenge.
Character Development and Themes
Sam Witwer returns to voice Darth Maul and shared insights into the character’s evolving perspective. According to Witwer, Maul is reassessing his view of the galaxy. He reflects on his training, which instilled a deep hatred towards the Jedi. Now, however, he acknowledges the potential utility of having one or two Jedi on his side. Maul expresses disdain for how Palpatine has shaped the new Empire, which he sees as lacking moral foundation. He contrasts it with the Jedi’s adherence to clear principles.
Despite this shift, Witwer emphasizes that Maul remains firmly on the side of villains. The series is described as a conflict between “evils” rather than a shift towards heroism, underscored by Maul’s resentment toward his former master.
