According to experts, specially designed basins play a crucial role in controlling surface water during heavy rainfall. These basins are intended to remain dry most of the time but will be carefully planted with resilient species. These plants are chosen for their ability to endure occasional flooding.
Eve Pierrepont, a resilience partnership portfolio manager at Yorkshire Water, highlighted the advantages of sustainable drainage systems (SuDS). She stated that these solutions not only manage flood risks but also foster biodiversity and create thriving habitats for local wildlife.

Local residents are invited to participate in shaping the future of flood management by providing their feedback through an online form. The consultation period is open until April 12.
