Kane’s Career Journey
Kane, a Vancouver native, has had an eventful career trajectory. Selected fourth overall by the Atlanta Thrashers in the 2009 NHL Draft, he spent his early years with the franchise, which later became the Winnipeg Jets. His time in Winnipeg ended tumultuously, leading to a trade to the Buffalo Sabres before the 2015 trade deadline.
Following two years in Buffalo, Kane moved to the San Jose Sharks in February 2018. With the Sharks, he played a crucial role in playoff runs and eventually signed a seven-year contract. However, after facing disciplinary issues in the 2021-22 season, including a suspension for presenting a fake COVID vaccination card, his contract was terminated.
Subsequently, Kane signed with the Edmonton Oilers, where he was instrumental in their successes, helping the team reach the Western Conference finals in three of four seasons. After a Stanley Cup Final appearance in 2025, Kane was traded to the Canucks for a draft pick.
Current Season Performance
This season with Vancouver, Kane has contributed significantly despite the team’s struggles, scoring 12 goals and accumulating 30 points in 69 games. Over his entire career, Kane boasts impressive statistics, with 338 goals, 309 assists, and a total of 647 points in 999 regular-season games, along with an additional 55 points in 97 postseason appearances.
