Afghan Cricketer Who Warned Pakistan Celebrates with IPL Team

Hardik Pandya, captain of the Mumbai Indians, recently led a celebration for Allah Ghazanfar’s birthday during the team’s IPL 2026 training camp. This event was held amidst preparations for the ongoing Indian Premier League season.
Allah Ghazanfar: Rising Star of Afghan Cricket
Allah Ghazanfar, a talented young spinner, is a member of the Mumbai Indians’ squad for IPL 2026. Despite being part of the team, he has yet to make his debut in the league. Previously, Ghazanfar expressed concerns about the humanitarian impact of ongoing tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Impact of Recent Events
Earlier this week, Ghazanfar spoke out concerning a devastating airstrike that targeted a rehabilitation center in Kabul. This attack, attributed to Pakistan by Afghan officials, resulted in significant casualties:
- At least 400 people killed
- Around 250 others injured
- Damage to a critical 2,000-bed drug rehabilitation facility
Following the airstrike, Afghanistan’s deputy government spokesperson, Hamdullah Fitrat, confirmed the destruction of large parts of the facility. In his statements, Ghazanfar highlighted the facility’s importance, emphasizing that it served vulnerable populations in need of support.
Condemnation of Military Actions
During an interview with CNN News18, Ghazanfar condemned the attack and questioned the rationale behind such military actions. He remarked, “The people there don’t have money for treatment, and now they’ve targeted that place as well.” He further expressed concern over the situation, stating, “This is not acceptable to the people of Afghanistan.”
Ghazanfar warned that if such aggression continues, it may lead to dire consequences for Pakistan. He urged for a recognition of Afghanistan’s tumultuous history, suggesting that repeating past conflicts would be detrimental for all involved.
Ghazanfar’s Achievements in Cricket
Although Ghazanfar has yet to debut in the IPL, he has made notable contributions to Afghan cricket. He has participated in:
- 20 matches for Afghanistan
- 29 wickets taken across all formats
As the season progresses, supporters eagerly await Ghazanfar’s introduction to the IPL and his contributions to the Mumbai Indians’ campaign.
