Sophie Thibault Updates on Skin Cancer After Leaving Dermatologist

Former broadcaster Sophie Thibault has shared positive news about her health and her journey with skin cancer. After retiring nearly a year ago, she has embraced a more tranquil lifestyle. With a passion for photography, she finds joy and equilibrium away from the stresses of her former career.
Sophie Thibault’s Skin Cancer Journey
Thibault, who battled skin cancer affecting her face, has recently taken a break from her dermatologist. She mentioned that a minor spot was noted on her forehead during her last visit, but overall, her condition seems stable. “It’s calm,” she remarked, reflecting on the progress she has made.
Art Exhibition and New Perspectives
Thibault held an exhibition titled “Lignes de vie • Signes de vie,” featuring around thirty photographs. This exhibition runs from March 30 to June 18 at the Ville-Marie memorial pavilion, located at the Saint-François d’Assise cemetery in Montreal. She describes this venue as akin to a museum, providing a serene backdrop for her art.
- Event: Lignes de vie • Signes de vie Exhibition
- Location: Ville-Marie memorial pavilion, Montreal
- Date: March 30 – June 18
- Number of Works: Approximately 30
In a lighthearted tone, Thibault joked about the location of her skin cancer, suggesting that is because “my face was tired of being in television.” She embraces the changes in her life and the new direction in her work.
Life After Journalism
Having left her journalism career in June 2025, Thibault describes her new life as fulfilling and stress-free. She has immersed herself in nature and photography, allowing her creativity to flourish. “The stress is gone, and I am now in a space of complete creativity and freedom,” she said.
Her new perspective includes capturing the beauty around her. A highlight of her exhibition is a large-format photograph of a great horned owl she encountered in Boucherville. This experience underscored her transition from the monochrome challenges of her previous profession to the vibrant world of photography she now embraces.
Future Engagements
Sophie Thibault is set to appear on ICI Télé on April 6 at 9 PM, featured in a documentary titled “La face cachée du soleil.” The documentary reflects the experiences of those battling skin cancer, including entrepreneur Marie-Eve Richard-Tougas, who faces metastatic melanoma.
As Thibault continues her journey, her focus is not just on health but also on celebrating the beauty in life through her art.
