Coronation Street and Emmerdale Announce Easter Sunday Episodes Amid Schedule Changes

ITV has announced that both Emmerdale and Coronation Street will feature special episodes on Easter Sunday, April 5. This decision comes after a series of scheduling changes affecting the popular soap operas.

Special Easter Sunday Episodes

For the second consecutive week, fans can enjoy an extra episode of each soap. Emmerdale will air at 7:00 PM, followed by Coronation Street at 7:30 PM. Viewers who prefer on-demand services can watch these episodes on ITVX or YouTube, where they will be available in the morning as usual.

Reasons for Schedule Changes

The scheduling adjustments were made due to recent conflicts with various sporting events and repeats of the show Vera. These extra episodes on Sundays aim to compensate for the missed episodes resulting from the disrupted timetable.

Return to Normal Schedule

Next week, commencing on Easter Monday, April 6, schedules are expected to return to normal. The upcoming episodes will mark the first time since January that both series have aired a combined total of three hours worth of episodes within a single week.

Managing Director’s Comments

Kevin Lygo, ITV’s Managing Director for Media and Entertainment, highlighted that five 30-minute episodes per week is the ideal viewing structure for audiences. He emphasized the need to align episode frequency with audience expectations regarding storyline development and resolution.
