Sens Recall Yakemchuk, Donovan with Chabot, Thomson Sidelined

The Ottawa Senators are facing a significant setback due to injuries to key defensemen Thomas Chabot and Lassi Thomson. Both players left the ice during a recent victory against the New York Rangers, leading to their absence from the team for the foreseeable future.
Injury Details
Chabot sustained a right wrist and arm injury, while Thomson suffered a lower-body issue, limping off favoring his left leg. Ottawa had to cope with just four defensemen for more than 30 minutes during the match.
After the game, head coach Travis Green indicated, “They’ll both be out for a while.”
Player Recalls
In response to these injuries, the Senators recalled prospects Carter Yakemchuk and Jorian Donovan. Both players might debut in the NHL during the upcoming match against Detroit.
- Carter Yakemchuk:
- 10 goals and 36 points in 50 games
- AHL Player of the Week last Friday
- Selected seventh overall in the 2024 draft
- Jorian Donovan:
- 4 goals and 21 points in 58 games
- 2022 fifth-round draft pick
- Could be the first father-son duo to play for the Senators
Current Standings
Following their win, the Senators have accumulated 83 points, only one point behind the Detroit Red Wings (84). They are competing for wild-card positions against the Boston Bruins (86) and New York Islanders (85).
Upcoming Evaluations
Chabot is scheduled for evaluation by team doctors when they return to Ottawa. Reports suggest that surgery hasn’t been ruled out for his arm injury. This season, Chabot has tallied 7 goals and 31 points in 54 games. Thomson, playing in his first NHL game of the season, previously recorded 14 goals and 25 points in 55 games with Belleville.
