Kelowna Man Fatally Falls in Belize

A tragic incident has taken place involving a Kelowna man who fell to his death while in Belize. Authorities have reported that the victim, identified as 72-year-old Thomas David Harman, was found on March 11, 2026. His body was discovered on an abandoned catamaran that was drifting approximately 96 kilometers from the Belizean coast.
Incident Details
According to the Belize police, the initial distress call was made by a woman claiming her husband had suffered a cardiac arrest. This call was picked up by a nearby cruise ship, which subsequently rescued the woman. Upon investigation by Belize’s Rescue Team, Harman’s body was located alongside evidence of injury.
Cause of Death
An autopsy indicated that Harman died from “multiple blunt force traumatic injuries due to a fall from height,” confirmed Belize Assistant Superintendent of Police Stacy Smith. The circumstances surrounding his fall suggest he may have been up on the sail of the boat prior to the incident.
Investigation Status
Assistant Superintendent Smith stated that the investigation has concluded that there was no foul play. The case now lies within the jurisdiction of Canadian authorities, as Harman was a Canadian national. Belize officials have completed the necessary procedures to ensure all relevant information is available should further inquiries be initiated.
