Conquer Crimson Desert: Complete the Howling Hill Expansion Mission

The Howling Hill Expansion mission in Crimson Desert introduces players to a new gameplay mechanic: dispatching soldiers on missions. This feature becomes available after recruiting enough Greymanes during the main storyline.
How to Start the Howling Hill Expansion Mission
To begin, players must be located at the Howling Hill camp. Verify that the resource list is visible in the top right corner of the screen to ensure you are in the correct spot. Open your map and hover over the camp icon while tabbed to show all locations.
- Press Y/Triangle to access the mission options.
- Navigate to Mission List using RB/R1.
- Select Howling Hill Camp Expansion.
- Choose Luke and Ronald, then press X/Square to dispatch them.
The mission will take 17 in-game hours to complete. Players can rest inside the main tent to speed up the waiting period, but they are limited to a maximum of 12 hours. During this time, engaging in side quests is advisable.
Completing the Mission
Once the mission is completed, a tutorial popup will provide guidance on expanding the camp. Players can access the expansion menu from the same map used for dispatching soldiers. After completing the mission, players will notice new tents and carts appearing as a reward.
Additionally, a character named Ross will arrive in the camp, identifiable by a helmet icon. Interacting with Ross allows you to manage the freeswords dispatched on missions, enhancing your strategic gameplay.
Managing Resources and Missions
The mission dispatch screen enables players to send freeswords on various missions, which help build reputation with factions and reduce threats from enemy groups. To take on missions, players must manage their currency and resources effectively.
- Donating currency can be handled at Carl, signified by a treasure chest symbol.
- Choose Manage Supplies, then Support Camp Resources.
- Press Y/Triangle to donate funds or goods.
Some missions require specific food items or goods. For instance, players can complete the Capra Pasture cabbage harvesting mission, costing 1,000 bronze, which in turn provides 1,000 food. Subsequently, completing the Oakenshield Manor guard mission requires 120 food but rewards 1,900 bronze, enabling profit without excessive initial costs.
To maximize efficiency, players should pay attention to mission descriptions and costs, allowing strategic planning. Continuously completing Greymane faction quests will unlock additional freeswords for missions, enabling you to tackle several tasks simultaneously.
