Spalletti Urges Juventus to Stay Humble Amid Sassuolo Crisis, Boga’s New Role

Luciano Spalletti has called for Juventus to maintain humility as they prepare to face Sassuolo amid a health crisis within the Neroverdi squad. The Serie A match is set to take place at the Allianz Juventus Stadium at 19:45 GMT on March 14, 2026.
Sassuolo’s Health Crisis
Sassuolo is currently facing a challenging situation with one confirmed case of whooping cough. In addition, four other players have been isolated due to exhibiting symptoms. Although the club has not disclosed their identities for privacy reasons, notable absences include Nemanja Matic, Kristian Thorstvedt, Woyo Coulibaly, and Stefano Turati. The team will also miss injured players Fali Candé, Alieu Fadera, Daniel Boloca, and Edoardo Pieragnolo.
Spalletti’s Perspective
Despite Sassuolo’s struggles, Spalletti remains cautious. He emphasized that every team typically has around 15-16 first-choice players, regardless of their current form. He remarked, “This situation can create arrogance if not handled intelligently, or it can serve as motivation to rise to the occasion.”
Juventus’ Recent Performance
Juventus is looking to capitalize on recent momentum after a thrilling 3-3 draw against Roma and subsequent victories over Pisa and Udinese. This resurgence has put them back in contention for a Champions League spot.
Boga’s New Role
A crucial element of Juventus’s improvement has been the tactical switch to a 4-3-3 formation. Spalletti has deployed Jeremie Boga as a center-forward, which has paid off significantly. Spalletti noted, “Moving Boga to the center allows him to exploit space and use his change of pace effectively.”
- Formation: 4-3-3
- Boga’s Position: Center-forward
- Previous Position: Left winger
Vlahovic’s Return
Dusan Vlahovic also makes his return to the bench after being sidelined since November 29 due to a thigh injury. His condition is closely monitored, especially as his contract is set to expire on June 30. Alongside Vlahovic, Arek Milik will also be available as a forward option on the bench.
Spalletti is optimistic but cautious with Vlahovic’s reintegration into the squad, noting the importance of managing his recovery to avoid further injury.
