Polska 2050, previously led by Szymon Hołownia, has officially rebranded with a new name and leadership. During a congress held over the weekend, the party announced it will now be known as Polska 2050 Rzeczpospolitej Polskiej. Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz takes over as chairperson, succeeding Hołownia.
Key Changes in Poland’s Political Landscape
At the event, Pełczyńska-Nałęcz delivered a compelling speech. She stated that the party’s mission is to address Poland’s challenges and restore people’s sense of security. Hołownia, now stepping back from leadership, expressed pride in the name change, emphasizing unity and hope for the future.
New Leadership Dynamics
- New Chairperson: Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz replaces Szymon Hołownia.
- Previous Leader: Szymon Hołownia, who founded the party in 2020.
- Recent Departure: Paulina Hennig-Kloska, along with several MPs, left Polska 2050 to form a new parliamentary group called Centrum.
Background and Future Plans for Polska 2050
Polska 2050 was established after Hołownia placed third in the 2020 presidential elections. In the 2023 parliamentary elections, the party participated in a coalition with PSL under the name Trzecia Droga. However, that coalition dissolved in June 2025.
Before the congress, Jan Szyszko, the deputy head of the Ministry of Funds and a member of Polska 2050, hinted at significant political surprises regarding the party’s future. This change marks a pivotal moment in Polish politics as the party seeks to refresh its image and objectives.
Hołownia’s commitment to peaceful discourse remains a central theme, urging party members to be voices of reason amid discord. The congress, dubbed the “Congress of a New Opening for Polska 2050,” symbolically marks a new chapter for the organization.
